You Don’t Have to Keep Saying “I’m Fine”
Hi I am Emily Halvorson, She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselo and Board Certified Art Therapist, providing online therapy throughout Illinois for teens and adults. You may be doing everything you’re supposed to do—showing up, handling responsibilities, and keeping things moving—while privately feeling exhausted, anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected. If that sounds familiar, you don’t have to keep carrying everything on your own. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem concerns, and major life transitions.
My Approach to Therapy
Understand the Pattern. Build the Skills. Move Forward.
Therapy isn't about simply learning to push through difficult moments.
I work with teens and adults to understand what’s happening beneath the surface, identify patterns that may no longer be helpful, and build healthier ways of responding. The goal is to help you feel more connected to yourself and more confident in handling the challenges in front of you. For teens, therapy can provide a supportive space to talk about emotions, school pressure, friendships, identity, family expectations, and other challenges. For adults, therapy can help with emotional overwhelm, relationships, work and life stress, self-doubt, transitions, and the feeling of having to hold everything together.

Art Therapy & Talk Therapy
Different Ways to Explore What You’re Experiencing
As a Board Certified Art Therapist, I can incorporate creative approaches alongside traditional talk therapy when they fit the client and their goals. You don’t need to consider yourself artistic or know how to draw. Art therapy can provide another way to explore thoughts, emotions, experiences, and patterns that may be difficult to put into words. The focus isn't on creating something “good.” It’s on finding ways to better understand yourself and communicate what you’re experiencing.
Ready to Stop Performing “Fine”?
You don't have to wait until things feel unbearable to ask for support. I can help you make sense of what you're carrying, develop practical coping tools, and work toward feeling more confident and connected to yourself.
