About Us

AFS Counseling Services provides mental health counseling across Illinois through secure online sessions for teens and adults. Our counseling services are compassionate, practical, and tailored to your concerns, goals, and everyday life.

Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem concerns, or a major life transition, our expert-led therapy gives you space to understand what you’re experiencing and figure out ways to cope with it.

Virtual sessions allow you to meet with your therapist from a private, comfortable space without adding a commute to your schedule.

Our Story

Built Around People, Not a One-Size-Fits-All Approach

AFS Counseling Services was founded by Alice Solis, LCPC, after more than two decades working in the mental health field.

Alice earned her Master's degree in Clinical Counseling from Roosevelt University and has practiced psychotherapy since 2013. Her experience working with teens, adults, and families shaped a simple belief: people deserve mental health care where they feel genuinely heard and understood. That belief became the foundation of AFS Counseling Services

What We Believe

Mental health counseling isn't about changing who you are. It's about understanding what you're experiencing and finding ways to respond that work better for you. Our work is guided by 5 core principles:

Listen first

Your experiences, concerns, and goals shape the work.

Make therapy practical

Insight matters, but so do the tools you can use outside of therapy.

Meet you where you are

There is no single right way to begin therapy or one approach that works for everyone.

Focus on the whole person

Your emotions, relationships, experiences, environment, and goals all matter.

Build skills for real life

Therapy can help you develop healthier ways to cope with challenges and navigate what comes next.

Meet your therapists

Our therapists bring different backgrounds, specialties, and perspectives to their work. What they share is a commitment to creating a supportive space where you can be heard, understood, and involved in your own care.
